Rossall School is delighted to announce the appointment of Victoria Lumby as Director of Admissions and Global Partnerships, effective Monday 23 February 2026.

As parents, we are often told that reading is ‘the air we breathe’ in education, the fundamental element that unlocks every other subject. Yet, for many of us, the reality feels less like breathing and more like a battle. We worry when our children choose a screen over a paperback, or when they seem to be quietly ‘opting out’ of reading altogether.

On Saturday, 24 January, Rossall sent two full delegations to the Stonyhurst Annual Model United Nations. It was a full day of committee debates and included a superb speech from a youth activist, as well as a fascinating fictional crisis event involving the collapse of Russia.

Rossall pupils and community members visited Brian House Children’s Hospice, presenting funds raised from Christmas activities, choir performances, and individual efforts. Together, they contributed around £10,000 to support the hospice’s vital work with families in need.

Rossall School enjoyed a highly successful weekend of volleyball, with the U12, U13, U14, and U15 A teams all recording victories against Westholme. Winning all four fixtures, the teams demonstrated skill, teamwork, and determination across every age group.

We were delighted to welcome more than 30 Old Rossallians to the Munich Dinner on Friday, 9 January 2026. This event marked the first Rossallian Club gathering of the year and provided an excellent start to 2026, with a strong turnout that clearly reflected the continued enthusiasm and engagement of the Rossall community in Germany.

Congratulations to Fabian B in Year 12, who has been named the winner of the Michaelmas Term Investment Club after achieving an outstanding 14.9 percent growth in his portfolio since September.

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Mr David Clarke to the role of Deputy Head (Academic) at Rossall School, which became effective from January 2026. A familiar and highly respected figure within our community, David has served as the Director of Professional Development, Teaching and Learning and Head of History and Politics since 2019.

On Wednesday 7 January, a group of Year 9 scientists travelled to the University of Liverpool for an exciting and inspiring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) day. The visit provided pupils with a valuable opportunity to experience university life first hand, working in excellent facilities and taking part in a wide range of hands-on activities that brought STEM subjects to life.

We are proud to celebrate the success of former Rossall student Tayla-Daisy Hoyle, whose creative journey continues to go from strength to strength.

On 28 December, Jack represented Rossall School at the North West Schools Biathlon National Qualifier, held at Salt Ayre.

We are delighted to announce that the prestigious Royal Air Force Club in London has been secured as the venue for the Old Rossallian London Dinner, taking place on Thursday, 7 May 2026, in the elegant President’s Room.

A vibrant and heartfelt musical theatre showcase by the Broadway Performing Arts Academy, celebrating beloved songs, youthful talent, and the joy of performance. Despite the rainy evening, the show delivered warmth, inclusivity, and community through iconic numbers from stage classics.

The Scholars Theatre Society’s performance of Cinderella offered a fresh and inspiring take on the classic tale, made all the more impressive by the fact that the entire production was student-generated from concept to execution.

Upper School students and younger year groups came together to celebrate the festive season with Christmas dinners, pizza parties, games, music, and plenty of cheer. From a beautifully decorated dining hall to lively celebrations filled with laughter and dancing, it was a joyful way to mark the end of a busy term.

The TEDx Conference 2025 showcased students delivering powerful, fully memorised talks based on their own ideas and personal experiences. Despite busy schedules filled with exams and applications, each speaker demonstrated courage, growth, and exceptional public speaking skills. The event highlighted the importance of communication, resilience, and community, leaving staff and students deeply proud and inspired by the confidence and honesty shown on stage.

Rossall School has enjoyed a highly successful Michaelmas term across football and sport, with students achieving impressive results and demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination on the pitch.

Year 10 Design and Technology students at Rossall School have been putting their woodworking skills to the test with a festive project, creating their own timber Christmas trees from scratch.

Rossall School was delighted to take part in this year’s Santa Dash along Blackpool Promenade, joining hundreds of festive runners in support of a much-loved community event.
