ROSSALL sport development
“This is about more than buildings and pitches; it is about legacy. It is about those who came before us, those who walk our corridors today, and those who will follow. With the support of our alumni and wider community, we have the chance to create something enduring and exceptional, a sporting environment that not only reflects who we are, but defines who we will become. In doing so, we can ensure that Rossall stands apart, recognised nationally as a place where talent is nurtured, character is forged, and a true winning mentality is embedded in everything we do.”
— MR ANDREW MCBRIDE, HEADMASTER OF ROSSALL SCHOOL
Sport Development at Rossall school
At Rossall School, sport is not simply an activity; it is a defining element of who we are. It shapes generations of students who represent the school with pride and carry its values into every aspect of their lives. From early morning training sessions to the discipline of consistent preparation, our sporting culture fosters resilience, commitment, and a performance mindset that extends far beyond the playing field. The result is not only stronger athletes, but confident, driven individuals equipped to succeed.
Central to this is a powerful sense of belonging. Rossallians - past and present - are united by a shared identity and collective pride. This connection transforms participation into purpose, and teams into enduring communities. It inspires our students to strive not only for personal excellence, but for one another and for the school they represent.
Our sporting heritage is founded on character, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of improvement. As custodians of this legacy, we are committed to ensuring Rossall continues to be recognised for excellence in school sport, regionally and nationally. The development of a 3G football pitch represents a significant step forward.
Alongside this, we are investing in the continued development of golf, cricket, and hockey. These enhancements will honour the traditions of each sport while creating exceptional environments for future generations to excel. Our ambition is clear: to provide every student with facilities that match aspirations and deliver high performance.
This vision extends beyond infrastructure. It is about building a legacy that connects past, present, and future Rossallians. With the support of our wider community, we are creating an environment in which talent is nurtured, character is developed, and a true winning mentality is embedded in everything we do.
As we look ahead, we invite the Rossall community to play a vital role in bringing this vision to life. Together, we have a unique opportunity to shape the future of sport at Rossall - ensuring continued growth, innovation, and inspiration for generations to come.
With an indicative project cost of £2.3 million, this ambitious initiative represents a significant and exciting investment in our shared legacy.

THE GOLF ACADEMY DEVELOPMENTS
Rossall School’s Golf Academy is performing at an outstanding level and has firmly established itself as one of the most exciting and successful school golf programmes in the country. A historic victory at the SWIFTS Schools Golf Tour National Final highlights the exceptional talent, commitment and professionalism of both players and coaches, while a growing number of students are progressing to study golf and pursue elite opportunities at universities and programmes across the world, reinforcing Rossall’s reputation on an international stage. Golf at Rossall continues to go from strength to strength and is setting new standards of performance, and as these standards rise it is essential that facilities develop alongside them, with plans to enhance the Triple Sim Room and further develop the Golf Pod outdoor driving range to ensure our players are supported by facilities that match their ambition and ability.
Golf Academy Triple SIM room
The redevelopment of the golf simulation room will create a fully enclosed, high-performance training environment aligned with Rossall School’s commitment to sporting excellence.
The upgraded facility will include three new state-of-the art simulators, allowing for simultaneous coaching, practice, and performance analysis within a bespoke Rossall branded space.
Premium astroturf flooring will enhance realism and durability, providing pupils with year round access to elite level golf training.
the outdoor driving range
The addition of an outdoor golf pod at the driving range will significantly increase training provision and accessibility for pupils.
Designed as a high-quality, sheltered practice space, it will enable consistent use in a variety of weather conditions while supporting both individual practice and coaching sessions.
This enhancement will expand capacity and further strengthen Rossall School’s golf programme.
Integrated Performance & Esports Facility
The redevelopment of the five’s courts and Mondo’s area will create a high-quality, multi-functional facility, transforming existing space to significantly expand Rossall’s sporting provision. The project will see the eight fives courts reconfigured, with three courts fully upgraded for continued use, while the remaining spaces are repurposed to deliver a new strength and conditioning gym and a dedicated esports centre. This innovative approach brings together traditional sport, physical performance and digital competition within one integrated environment.
Three courts will be fully upgraded, ensuring the continued strength of fives at Rossall, while the wider redesign will improve how the space is used across the school.
A key feature is the integration with the Mondos area, including a new courtyard and glass partition to separate public access from student spaces. This will improve safeguarding, accessibility and flow, creating a more secure and adaptable environment for daily use.
cardio gym
Part of the redevelopment will introduce a new cardio gym, repurposing existing space to deliver a modern, performance-focused training facility. This will support athletic development across all sports, from grassroots participation to elite performance.
The gym will provide students with access to high-quality training equipment and structured development programmes, helping to improve strength, fitness and injury prevention, while enhancing overall sporting performance.
e-sports
mondo’s development
The project will also deliver a dedicated esports centre, positioning Rossall at the forefront of digital and competitive sport in education. This space will provide a professional, forward-looking environment for students to develop skills in gaming, teamwork and strategic thinking.
By integrating esports into the wider sports development vision, Rossall is creating new pathways for participation and achievement, reflecting the evolving landscape of sport and broadening opportunities for all students.
Cricket and Community at Rossall
Cricket is a key sport at Rossall, central to school life and supported by strong coaching, excellent facilities and clear development pathways for both boys and girls across all age groups. The development of a state-of-the-art three-lane indoor cricket centre will enhance this further by enabling year-round training, improving coaching consistency and supporting higher performance levels in all conditions. Alongside this, a new café and social space will create a welcoming hub for players, staff, families and visitors, strengthening the sense of community around cricket and sport at Rossall.
cricket three-lane facility
The development of the cricket three-lane facility will significantly enhance Rossall’s sporting provision, creating a high-quality environment for training and competition.
With the addition of three indoor nets, players will benefit from year-round access, ensuring consistent coaching and development in all conditions.
This investment will strengthen player pathways at every level, improve training standards, and support the continued growth of cricket at Rossall, while also enabling the school to host more fixtures and events.
cafe and social space
The creation of a new café and social space will provide a vibrant and welcoming hub at the heart of Rossall’s sporting environment, bringing together pupils, staff, parents, alumni and visitors in one inclusive setting.
Designed to enhance the overall experience of sport and school life, it will offer a comfortable place to connect, relax and socialise before and after fixtures and events, while strengthening community spirit and engagement across the wider school.
As we move forward, we welcome the support and engagement of the entire Rossall community. Together, we can ensure that Rossall continues to grow, innovate, and inspire for generations to come.
