Year 10 Students Craft Festive Timber Creations in Design & Technology

“Year 10 Design and Technology students at Rossall School have been putting their woodworking skills to the test with a festive project, creating their own timber Christmas trees from scratch.

Throughout the project, students developed a wide range of practical skills, including measuring, marking out, cutting, sanding, and assembling components with precision and care. They also explored design considerations such as size, structure, and decorative finishes, ensuring each tree showcased the student’s individual creativity.

The project not only helped students build confidence in using workshop tools and equipment but also gave them the satisfaction of producing a high-quality, handmade piece to enjoy during the Christmas season.

This festive project highlights Rossall’s commitment to hands-on learning and the development of practical skills in a creative and enjoyable way.”

- Mr Dan Hopwood, Head of Design & Technology
