Rossall School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Prep pupil Olivia S, who has received the High Sheriff of Lancashire’s Young Citizen Award. This prestigious honour recognises exceptional young people from across the county who have made a meaningful difference within their communities.

Cadets from Rossall School stepped proudly onto the national stage this term as they took part in the inaugural Cadet Air Rifle Competition. Representing Rossall CCF, the team travelled to the prestigious National Shooting Centre Bisley, widely regarded as the home of shooting in Britain and the venue purpose built for the shooting events at the Commonwealth Games 2002 Manchester.

At Rossall School, community and curiosity go hand in hand. Recently, a dedicated group of students organised a Lunar New Year celebration that brought the entire school together. Recently, our Head of Keyboard and Director of the International Piano Academy, Mr Lim, gave a stunning recital at AKS Lytham for the North Fylde Music Circle. A large group of staff and Piano Academy students attended to support him, turning the evening into both a celebration and a powerful learning experience.

Lunchtime Magic: Year 7 Music Scholar Shines

Rossall CCF is set to return to Bisley, the home of competitive shooting in the UK, for the first time in a decade.

On Wednesday, the Eco Society met after school and began planting spider plants and garlic that had been generously donated by kind members of staff. We spent the afternoon preparing the soil, organising the pots and carefully planting each one.

The transition from the broad explorations of Key Stage 3 to the focused specialisation of GCSEs is a defining milestone in a child’s schooling. 

We were delighted to welcome the Head of French from Lancaster University for an insightful and inspiring lecture delivered to our Year 10 and 11 students.

This week, our Year 9 students took part in an inspiring career webinar focused on the incredible professional doors that open when you study a language. The event featured a special guest session organized by GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters), providing a rare glimpse into how linguistic skills are vital to national security and global intelligence.

As part of Rossall’s unique Medstream Program, some of our Year 10 and 11 GCSE students recently enjoyed an visit to the West Manchester Medical Careers Day, a fantastic opportunity designed to spark interest in medical and healthcare careers.

As parents, we are often told that reading is ‘the air we breathe’ in education, the fundamental element that unlocks every other subject. Yet, for many of us, the reality feels less like breathing and more like a battle. We worry when our children choose a screen over a paperback, or when they seem to be quietly ‘opting out’ of reading altogether.

On Saturday, 24 January, Rossall sent two full delegations to the Stonyhurst Annual Model United Nations. It was a full day of committee debates and included a superb speech from a youth activist, as well as a fascinating fictional crisis event involving the collapse of Russia.
