Rossall School to Host Inaugural Golf Academy Fundraising Day

Rossall School is delighted to invite the wider Rossall community to the inaugural Rossall Golf Academy Fundraising Day, taking place on 2 July at Fleetwood Golf Club.

The event will bring together students, Old Rossallians, families and friends for a memorable day of team golf, alongside great food, prizes and celebration. This special occasion also marks 10 years of the Rossall Golf Academy, highlighting a decade of growth, opportunity and sporting achievement.

Funds raised on the day will support the continued development of the Academy’s facilities, including planned upgrades to the Triple Sim Room and the Golf Pod outdoor range. Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Celebration at Buckingham Palace

On Friday 22nd May, five Rossall students and Mr Hall attended the prestigious Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Celebration in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Representing Rossall were Ava H, Thea H, Veronika S, Olivia C and John Co, who were recognised for their outstanding achievement in completing the Gold Award.

The day was blessed with warm sunshine, although the unusually hot weather provided an additional challenge for everyone attending. Students enjoyed tea and cupcakes in the beautiful palace gardens while celebrating alongside Gold Award recipients from across the country.

Guests also heard inspiring speeches from HRH Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, Dame Kelly Holmes, former England goalkeeper David Seaman, Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Sara Davies and other distinguished speakers. A particular highlight for Rossall was when Ava had the opportunity to speak with Prince Edward and proudly tell him that the group was representing Rossall School.

It was a memorable and fitting celebration of the dedication, resilience and commitment required to achieve the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Congratulations to all five students on this remarkable accomplishment.

Rossall Golfers Continue to Shine on National and International Stages

It has been an outstanding period for Rossall golfers, with both current students and Old Rossallians enjoying success at some of the most prestigious events in amateur golf.

Old Rossallian Sam Easterbrook has capped off a superb year with Purdue Men's Golf by recording a tied 18th-place finish at the NCAA Men's Golf National Championships. Sam has broken a host of records throughout the season and will be looking to carry his excellent form into the summer campaign.

Fellow Old Rossallian Greg Holmes has continued his impressive rise with a fantastic victory at the Scottish Men's Amateur Championship. Greg's success included a remarkable course-record 62 (-9) at Glasgow Gailes, underlining the outstanding form he has shown throughout the year. His victory has propelled him into the top ten of the European Order of Merit and earned him an invitation to compete in the Scottish Open presented by Farmfoods on the HotelPlanner Tour.

Current Year 13 student Josh G has also achieved a major milestone, topping a field of 60 competitors from across the Midlands to win the 2026 EG Boys County Championships – Midland Qualifying. This outstanding performance secures Josh an exemption into the prestigious Carris Trophy, the English Boys' Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship, which takes place from 21–24 July.

Adding to the excitement, Old Rossallians Greg Holmes and Seb Cave are competing this weekend in the prestigious St Andrews Links Trophy. The tournament features 18-hole rounds on both the New Course and the Old Course before the cut, followed by a further 36 holes on the iconic Old Course. Seb will also have fellow Old Rossallian Simon Holt on the bag for the event.

These achievements are a testament to the talent, dedication and commitment of our golfers, both past and present. We congratulate Sam, Greg, Seb and Josh on their recent successes and wish them every success in the competitions ahead.

Rossall Celebrates Excellence at Prize Day 2026

The Rossall community recently came together to celebrate the achievements of students from Year 7 to Year 13 across the 2025/26 academic year.

The day featured a beautiful chapel service, heartfelt speeches, surprise musical performances, and the annual Prize Day awards ceremony. It was a memorable and emotional occasion, reflecting the dedication, talent, and spirit of the Rossall community.

Congratulations are extended to every student who received an award. We are extremely proud of your hard work, commitment, and achievements throughout the year.

A special message of good luck goes to our Year 13 students as they prepare to begin their next chapter. Floreat Rossallia.

Year 13 Prom: A Celebration of the Class of 2026

The Year 13 Prom was a wonderful evening that brought together students, parents, and teachers to celebrate the end of the students’ time at Rossall.

Dressed for the occasion, the Year 13 cohort arrived in style and enjoyed an evening filled with celebration, reflection, and joy. The event provided a chance for students to mark the end of their school journey in the company of friends, staff, and family, all of whom have supported them throughout their time at Rossall.

The evening featured music, dancing, and shared memories, creating a vibrant atmosphere as everyone came together to celebrate the achievements and experiences of the Class of 2026. It was a fitting occasion to recognise the hard work, growth, and friendships that have defined their years at the School.

We extend our thanks to all staff, parents, and students who contributed to making the evening such a memorable success. We wish the Year 13 leavers every success as they move on to their next chapter, and we look forward to welcoming them back as part of the wider Rossall community in the future.

Rossall Raises £1,462.50 for Trinity Hospice Following Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10K

Back in May, staff and students from Rossall School proudly took part in the Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10K, coming together to support an important local cause.

We are delighted to announce that, thanks to the incredible generosity of the Rossall community, an outstanding total of £1,462.50 has been raised. This fantastic achievement reflects the commitment, spirit, and teamwork shown by everyone involved, both on the day and in supporting the fundraising effort.

This week, we are honoured to present a cheque to Trinity Hospice, a vital local charity providing essential care and support. We are extremely proud to be able to contribute to their invaluable work and to support such a meaningful cause.

Thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to this wonderful result.

We are delighted to celebrate two students whose talent, commitment and leadership have made a real impact across the Rossall community.

Timofei [Spread Eagle House] has shown outstanding initiative by taking full ownership of the Senior House Chess Competition. With an impressive 26 players taking part in the opening weeks and every senior house represented, the competition has quickly become a fantastic success. From organising fixtures and overseeing matches to providing polished weekly updates for both competitors and houses, Timofei has managed the entire event with remarkably little staff involvement. His enthusiasm, organisation and ability to bring people together are a shining example of student leadership in action!

Our second recipient, William [Dragon House], is recognised for his exceptional contribution to the Prep School Musical Showcase Concert. His commitment to supporting the Year 6 performance of Kaleidoscope was nothing short of outstanding. Arriving already knowing the drum kit parts before the first rehearsal, William demonstrated incredible musicality, dedication and adaptability throughout the process. His positive attitude and willingness to lead by example have inspired the younger pupils around him, making him not only an accomplished musician but also a wonderful role model!

Congratulations to both Timofei and William for embodying the spirit of Rossall through leadership, dedication and a determination to make a difference. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved.

Farrell Society Marks Fifth Pride Meeting with Debates, Discussion, and Celebration

“During the Farrell Society meeting this Tuesday, the students have discussed the topic of pride and explored different opinions on literary characters through games like “green flag/beige flag/red flag” and trying to promote different characters to each other without describing their negative sides. Both categories had their winner, based on votes of our students, and had a showdown at the end to decide who’s the best at debating! The event was a lot of fun with rainbow-themed refreshments provided for us kindly by Mr McNab! However we still stayed focused around the theme of LGBTQ+, as it is our fifth pride Farrell! A massive thank you to Sofia F. for organising and hosting the event!”

— Sonia R, Year 12

A-Level and IB English Students Experience University Life at Lancaster University

"On Monday, A-Level and IB English literature students had the opportunity to experience university life at Lancaster. The day did not start with the weather we would have wished for, but the rain did not dampen our spirits as we drove into Lancaster University. We began with an introductory presentation detailing life in Lancaster. What was particularly interesting to learn is that both Lancaster and York engage in an annual sporting competition somewhat symbolic of the War of the Roses, and particular emphasis was placed on the fact that Lancaster are the current champions (31-28 by the way). Following this, we went on a tour around the campus and some highlights were: the 24/7 nature of the library, the closeness of amenities and the ducks (which were just as inclined to steal food as Rossall’s seagulls). We were able to explore the campus more over our lunch, and we were spoilt for choice on places to eat - the cookies at one of the campus cafes were quite frankly the best I’ve ever had. The next part of the day was subject focused, as we had a lecture from Professor John Chad. The focus of the session was poetry comparison (which will definitely come in handy for midcourse exams in the next weeks) and it was an interesting insight into what university studies will look like. To finish the day, we had a Q&A session with student ambassadors and they were able to answer questions about a number of topics - the city, societies (did you know there is a Taylor Swift society?), the Lancaster college system and how to manage studies, amongst other things. It was really helpful to hear an honest student perspective on uni life. Overall, the day was enjoyed by all and we can’t wait for our next experience of what the future holds."

WAYS TO BE WELL AT ROSSALL

Financial Literacy in PSHE

This week, we were fortunate to have workshops led by financial planners from the organisation My Personal Finance

As they begin to think seriously about life beyond school, Year 12 students discussed many of the financial decisions they may face in the near future.

Students explored a range of practical topics, including how to read and understand a payslip, the difference between good debt and bad debt, and the role of mortgages and pensions in long-term financial planning. They also explored By Now, Pay Later (BNPL) programs including credit cards and other online platforms, as well as the potential pitfalls associated with these. Students were encouraged to consider the importance of financial awareness and the benefits of developing positive money habits from an early age.

The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect their future aspirations with real-world financial knowledge, helping them to feel more confident and prepared for the next stages of education, employment, and independent living.

In addition, students in Years 7 and 8 learned about key concepts such as budgeting, responsible spending and saving, and the value of developing good money-management habits from an early age. The workshop encouraged students to think critically about their financial choices and highlighted why understanding money matters is an important life skill for the future. We are grateful to the volunteers for sharing their expertise and providing such a valuable introduction to financial literacy.

This week’s parent guide provides discussion points to continue the conversation at home.
