Rossall School Golf: Strong Performances at ISGA Junior Stableford

Huge congratulations to our junior golf teams who recently represented Rossall School at the ISGA Junior Stableford held at Sunningdale Heath Golf Club.

The squad travelled down to compete in a highly competitive field at this well-established junior event, which brought together 61 players from a range of schools and clubs. Rossall fielded three pairs across the competition, all of whom delivered committed and spirited performances throughout the day.

A particular highlight came from our Year 7 pairing of Henry and Ralph, who produced an excellent round to finish as runners-up overall. Their result reflects both strong teamwork and composure under pressure in a competitive environment.

There were also notable individual achievements across the field: Luke W (T5th), Ralph I & George C (T9th), Henry (16th).

Beyond the results, the event was marked by excellent sportsmanship and a positive spirit of competition throughout, with all players representing the school admirably.

A fantastic effort from all involved, and a promising sign of continued development for Rossall golf moving forward.

Outstanding Success in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge

“We are delighted to share our school’s excellent results in this year’s UKMT Junior Maths Challenge.

A total of 26 students achieved certificates across the competition: 7 students achieved Gold, 5 students achieved Silver and 14 students achieved Bronze.

These results represent a fantastic level of achievement in a nationally recognised challenge designed to test mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and creative thinking. The Junior Maths Challenge is significantly more demanding than standard classroom assessments, with questions that require students to apply logic, interpret information carefully, and think flexibly under timed conditions.

Certificates are awarded based on national performance thresholds set by the UKMT, with Gold awarded to the highest-performing students, followed by Silver and Bronze for strong and commendable performances respectively.

Every student who took part should be extremely proud of their success in such a challenging competition. The Junior Maths Challenge is designed to stretch even the most confident mathematicians, and simply participating demonstrates real commitment to developing mathematical understanding beyond the classroom.

In addition, all participants showed resilience when tackling unfamiliar and demanding problems. The experience provides valuable preparation for future study and further mathematical competitions, helping students to build confidence, perseverance, and problem-solving skills.

We are also very pleased to report that a number of our highest-performing students have qualified for the next stage of the competition, the Junior Kangaroo. This follow-on round provides an additional challenge for top scorers and encourages deeper mathematical thinking and persistence. Can we wish Kaison, Skyla, Sebastian, James, Theodore, Kathy, Faris, Joshua, Ahill and Luke all the best in the next round.

We look forward to supporting these students as they prepare for the next stage and continuing to celebrate all of our students’ achievements in mathematics.”

Manchester City Training Ground Visit

Students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 enjoyed an exceptional opportunity to visit the Manchester City Training Ground for a professional coaching experience.

Pupils took part in high-quality training sessions at world-class facilities, where they were able to develop their technical skills, teamwork, and confidence. The experience also gave them valuable insight into life within an elite sporting environment.

The day was filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to learning, creating memorable experiences for all involved.

Anchor Boarding House Trip to York

Anchor Boarding House enjoyed an unforgettable historical day out in York, packed with discovery, excitement, and plenty of memorable moments.

Students explored the magnificent York Minster, taking in its breathtaking architecture and rich history. They then walked the famous city walls, enjoying incredible views across the city while stepping back through centuries of heritage. The day also included time to wander through York’s vibrant and magical streets, filled with unique shops and atmosphere.

Beyond the sights, the trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to spend time together, strengthening friendships and enjoying shared experiences outside the classroom. The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm shown throughout the day made it a real highlight of the boarding calendar.

Boarding at its best is about moments like these, experiences that create lasting memories and bring students together in a way that stays with them long after the trip ends.

Strong Showing at the Irish Women’s Amateur Open

Congratulations to Year 12 student Molly, who delivered an impressive performance at the Irish Women’s Amateur Open Championship this past weekend, finishing in a highly respectable 15th place.

Representing Rossall School, Molly competed against a strong international field and held her own throughout the tournament, demonstrating consistency and composure across all rounds.

This result marks another encouraging step in her development as a competitive golfer, and the school is proud to see her continue to perform at this level on a national stage.

Senior House Hockey Results

The Senior House Hockey competition brought plenty of energy and teamwork as pupils competed across their house teams. Rose emerged as the overall winners after strong performances against both Wren and Dolphin, with the final standings seeing Rose finish first, followed by Wren in second place and Dolphin in third.

A huge well done goes to all pupils who took part in the event. Special recognition also goes to those who took responsibility for organising their teams and helping to coordinate the competition. Their leadership and commitment helped ensure the event ran smoothly and successfully.

Well played to everyone involved.

Lila B Secures Fourth Consecutive County Title

A fantastic achievement for Year 12 student Lila B, who has once again demonstrated outstanding consistency and talent by winning the Women’s Northamptonshire County Championship for an incredible fourth year in a row.

Competing against a strong field, Lila delivered another composed and high-quality performance to retain her title, further underlining her status as one of the leading junior golfers in the county circuit.

This remarkable run of success reflects her continued dedication and development within the sport, as well as the strength of performance pathways supported through Rossall School.

A well-deserved congratulations to Lila on this exceptional achievement.

Year 12 Piano Academy Success

Huge congratulations to Year 12 Piano Academy student Kevin, who has been awarded Third Prize at the prestigious Watford International Piano Competition this afternoon.

Kevin was the youngest finalist in the competition, performing alongside senior conservatoire students. This outstanding achievement reflects his exceptional artistry, dedication, and musical maturity.

Competing at such a high level and achieving a podium finish is a remarkable accomplishment, and the school is incredibly proud of Kevin’s success.

We look forward to following his continued musical journey and seeing what he achieves next.

Rossall Celebrates Continued Success at National Youth Monologues

Rossall has once again enjoyed outstanding success in the National Youth Monologues competition, following the regional finals held on Sunday 17th May.

For the second consecutive year, the school has been formally recognised by the National Youth Monologues organisation for the strength of its performance provision and the consistently high standard of student achievement.

A standout moment from this year’s competition came from Oliver J, who delivered an exceptional performance to win his regional round and secure a place at the National Finals in London’s West End this June. This achievement is made even more impressive as Oliver was also last year’s winner, meaning he now returns as a national finalist for a second consecutive year.

Alongside a growing number of finalist appearances and category successes in recent years, these results continue to reflect Rossall’s increasing reputation as a centre for excellence in actor training and performance development in the Northwest.

LAMDA Lessons – Building Confidence Through Creativity

We are delighted to offer LAMDA lessons for pupils across Years 1–13.

LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) is much more than acting and performance. Through fun, engaging sessions, pupils develop confidence, communication skills, creativity and self-expression, valuable skills that support children both inside and outside the classroom.

In lessons, pupils explore speaking and performance through games, storytelling, teamwork, reading aloud and imaginative activities. Children learn to speak clearly, listen carefully, think creatively and present themselves with confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.

LAMDA is suitable for all children (whether they already love performing or simply want to grow in confidence and find their voice). Lessons are designed to be inclusive, positive and enjoyable, helping every child feel comfortable taking part at their own pace.

Pupils also have the opportunity to work towards internationally recognised LAMDA qualifications, celebrating their progress and achievements along the way.

LAMDA helps children develop skills for life: confidence, resilience, communication and the ability to express themselves with clarity and self-belief.

If your child may be interested in joining LAMDA lessons, please get in touch for more information: j.royle@rossall.org.uk

ways to be WELL AT ROSSALl

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors have been busy the past two weeks with their efforts to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week. They spoke in Monday’s assembly on individual ways to well-being, reminding the school that the path to wellbeing is very individual and looks different for everyone. We even heard from some of the academic staff about their preferred ways to relieve stress, from dog walking to model painting. In addition, the ambassadors have been distributing hand cut ribbons and leading tutor time discussions on mental health, in an attempt to break the stigma associated with discussions surrounding this topic. Their final project is an on-going photo project where staff share their favourite wellbeing tip or quote - you can see a few of these below. Wishing you a restful pause during the half-term break.
