Footloose 2026: A Spectacular Senior School Production
Show Overview
After weeks of dedicated practice and rehearsals, the curtains rose for the opening performance of Footloose by our Senior School. Performed over three days, the production featured four shows from Thursday 12th March to Saturday 14th March 2026, creating a truly memorable run.
Across all performances, the energy, talent, and commitment of every student on stage were evident from the very first note. The students worked tirelessly to perfect every song, dance, and scene, and their efforts shone through in performances full of enthusiasm, precision, and heart. Audiences were captivated from start to finish each night, with standing ovations that were a testament to their incredible achievement.
Now that all performances have concluded, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved. A special thank you to the many staff who supported the production behind the scenes, from rehearsals and creative direction to technical support, costumes, and organisation. It truly was a whole school effort.
A particular thank you goes to Mr Michael Holdsworth for his outstanding work on drama and acting, and to Mrs Dawn Harris for her exceptional choreography. Both played a vital role in bringing the production to life.
What an incredible production of Footloose at Rossall School 2026. We are so proud of all our students and grateful to our staff for making it such a memorable success.
cast experiences
“I will always remember Footloose. From having auditions to being cast, then moving on to rehearsals and finally the actual show, it was an incredible journey. It gave me so much more confidence in myself and was always a new experience. People often say you only realize and appreciate what you have when it is gone. I miss it more every day.
Footloose helped me meet so many new people and form special friendships that I would not change for the world. I would like to say a big thank you to all the teachers who helped, whether it was choreographing dances or supporting us in our performances. This experience has changed me and my future on the stage, and it is one of the most precious things I could ever ask for.
Thank you for all the opportunities you give us, and I cannot wait for our next musical!”
— Wiktoria Z, Year 10
“Footloose was one of the best shows put on at Rossall so far. Its colours, plot, and songs are amazing and could not have been achieved without the collaboration of the cast, the lighting team, and, of course, the superb teachers. One of my favourite moments was meeting so many new people and forming long-lasting friendships with them. My favourite highlight of the show was the scene before the interval, where the choir and Reverend Shaw battled against the rebellious teens in an epic struggle for power and rights.”
— Oliver J, Year 10
“Being part of Footloose the Musical as a member of the ensemble has been an unforgettable experience. From the first rehearsals to the final performance, every moment was filled with energy, laughter, and a real sense of teamwork. I have made some amazing friends along the way, and we have shared so many memories, whether it was having dinner together every night during show week, perfecting choreography, singing together backstage, or simply enjoying rehearsals. Even though I was not in a leading role, I still felt included and valued, and it was wonderful to contribute to the overall performance as part of such a supportive group.”

“I’m Jayden, and I played Ren in Footloose. I absolutely loved being part of the school production at Rossall. Everyone made me feel so welcome, especially as it was my first year. I also found the staff to be very involved and hands-on, ensuring each scene was the best it could be. Everyone takes great pride in show week when all the hard work comes together on stage. Pulling off a show is an incredible challenge for both staff and students. If I could give any advice, I would urge anyone to take part next year. Even if you do not think you are interested in theatre, many people participated for the first time in a production this year and discovered they loved it. Most of them are now excited to take part again next year.”
