A leading independent school has made another world sporting first after partnering with one of the most successful and influential golfers of his generation.

Rossall School, based on the Fylde Coast, has partnered with global golfing icon Tommy Fleetwood to provide pupils with an unparalleled golfing education and development pathway.

The partnership will see Rossall’s Golf Academy – already recognised as one of the finest school golf programmes in the country by the Independent Schools Golf Association – become the exclusive Tommy Fleetwood Academy (TFA) partner within the UK independent school sector from September 2026.

The Tommy Fleetwood Academy currently operates from three established locations and has developed a strong reputation for nurturing golfers of all ages and abilities. Rossall School will become the fourth addition to the Tommy Fleetwood Academy family and the first educational institution to join the network, marking a significant milestone in the Academy’s continued growth and extending its proven coaching philosophy into the independent school sector for the first time.

Andrew McBride, Headmaster of Rossall School, said: “This is a landmark moment for Rossall School and one that fills us with enormous pride and excitement.

“Our Golf Academy has already established itself as one of the leading school golf programmes in the country, with national success and an outstanding reputation for developing talented young players.

“To become the exclusive home of the Tommy Fleetwood Academy within the UK independent school sector is truly groundbreaking. This partnership reflects our ambition to provide exceptional opportunities for young people and to continue pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in education and sport.”

A significant feature of the partnership is the creation of the Tommy Fleetwood Scholarship, a prestigious fully funded place at Rossall School for an aspiring young golfer demonstrating exceptional talent, dedication and potential.

Tommy Fleetwood is one of the most respected and recognisable figures in world golf. An eight-time DP World Tour winner, Tommy enjoyed a landmark season in 2017 when he was crowned Race to Dubai Champion, finishing as the European Tour’s number one player. He has represented Europe with distinction in multiple Ryder Cups, playing a pivotal role in European victories and forming one of the most successful partnerships in Ryder Cup history. In 2025, he added another career-defining achievement by winning the FedEx Cup, becoming season champion on the PGA Tour. He also proudly represented Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning a silver medal and further cementing his reputation as one of the game’s leading figures. Through the Tommy Fleetwood Academy, he is now helping to inspire and develop the next generation of golfers.

Tommy Fleetwood said: “Rossall’s commitment to excellence, both in the classroom and on the golf course, immediately stood out to me. The School shares our belief that young athletes should be given every opportunity to develop as golfers, students and people.

“The Tommy Fleetwood Academy was created to inspire and support young golfers on their journey, and partnering with Rossall allows us to provide an exceptional pathway for talented players within an outstanding educational environment.

“The introduction of the Tommy Fleetwood Scholarship is particularly exciting because it will open doors for a young golfer who has the talent and determination to succeed. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the partnership and the students who will benefit from it.”

Rossall School has earned a growing reputation for sporting excellence, producing national champions across multiple disciplines while maintaining outstanding academic outcomes. Its Golf Academy combines expert coaching, competitive opportunities, strength and conditioning support, sports science, and academic flexibility, enabling pupils to pursue excellence in both their education and their sport.

The partnership with the Tommy Fleetwood Academy further strengthens Rossall’s position as a leader in elite school sport and creates a truly unique opportunity for young golfers seeking to maximise their potential.

Applications for the Tommy Fleetwood Scholarship will open on 2 July 2026.
