Rossall Students Explore the History and Culture of Edinburgh
“Last Saturday, four members of Common Room accompanied a group of 31 students from Years 9 to 13 on an unforgettable weekend visit to Edinburgh. The trip offered students the chance to immerse themselves in the city’s rich history and culture while enjoying some excellent food along the way.
The journey began in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. Students stepped back in time as they made their way along the famous Royal Mile, taking in the atmosphere before climbing to the iconic Edinburgh Castle. From its position high on Castle Rock, the group enjoyed sweeping views across the city and learned more about the fortress that has played such a significant role in Scottish history.
In the evening, the group visited the Edinburgh Street Food Market. This lively venue, filled with international flavours, provided the perfect setting to refuel before continuing their exploration of the city after dark.
Sunday focused on discovery. The day began with a stroll along Princes Street, where students enjoyed some shopping and took in the impressive views of the Scott Monument. The group then visited the National Museum of Scotland, where exhibits ranging from giant dinosaur skeletons to modern technological innovations captured everyone’s imagination.
It was a fantastic weekend filled with laughter, learning and plenty of walking. Our students represented the school brilliantly throughout the trip, demonstrating curiosity, enthusiasm and great spirit at every stage.”
