Rossall Students Celebrate Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Buckingham Palace

Five Rossall students were honoured at the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Celebration held in the gardens of Buckingham Palace on Friday 22 May, accompanied by Mr Hall.

Representing Rossall were Ava H, Thea H, Veronika S, Olivia C, and John C, who were recognised for successfully completing the prestigious Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Their achievement reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and commitment across the Award’s challenging programme of volunteering, physical activity, skills development, and expedition.

Set against the backdrop of Buckingham Palace’s beautiful gardens and warm spring sunshine, the celebration brought together Gold Award recipients from across the country. Students enjoyed refreshments and the opportunity to mark their achievements alongside fellow participants who had completed the highest level of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The event featured inspiring speeches from HRH Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes, former England goalkeeper David Seaman, entrepreneur Sara Davies, and other distinguished guests, all of whom highlighted the value of resilience, determination, and personal growth.

A particular highlight for Rossall was Ava’s opportunity to speak with Prince Edward and proudly share that she was representing Rossall School at the prestigious event.

This memorable occasion was a fitting celebration of the hard work, dedication, and achievements of all five students. Congratulations to Ava, Thea, Veronika, Olivia, and John on this outstanding accomplishment.
