Summer - Week 5

from the headmaster

FROM THE PREPARATORY SCHOOL HEADMASTER

Dear All,

As we conclude the final week of this half term, the sunshine continues to brighten our days - and true to form, it is due to break just in time for the holidays! That said, the children have made the most of the good weather, and we now look ahead to the final four and a half weeks of term after the break, packed with events, celebrations, and wonderful learning opportunities.

with love from chapel

This weekend is Prize Day!

It is a day full of celebration and recognition of the huge amount of work that students have done over the last year, key stages or even their entire school-career.

It is - for many of our oldest students - the end of an ‘era’ at Rossall School. And it is, invariably, a time for the odd tear between the cheers and hugs and celebrations.

THE ROSSALLIAN

We are delighted to be working on the next edition of The Rossallian, our school newspaper that has become an integral part of Rossall School. This publication serves as a wonderful showcase of the exciting range of activities, events, and opportunities our pupils enjoy across both the senior and preparatory school. We are excited to continue sharing our community’s experiences and achievements with you.

Once again, The Rossallian will be available in both print and digital formats, reaching alumni, parents, staff, and friends of Rossall, as well as prospective families at open days and visits.

To support this initiative at no cost to the school, we are once again partnered with Timesed Ltd to invite a selection of high-quality local and regional businesses to advertise in our newspaper. We are grateful to those who have already participated and helped to make this publication possible.

As valued members of our school community, we want to ensure you have the first opportunity to take part. If you would like to learn more about advertising options within The Rossallian, please contact Carl Huyton directly at carl.huyton@times-ed.co.uk. Carl will also be reaching out to other local businesses in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support in making The Rossallian a valuable and engaging publication for the Rossall community.

DONATE YOUR CHILDREN'S BOOKS TO GHANA

This summer, we will be running our third trip to Little Roses School in Ghana. They are desperately short of books and we want to make this a focus of our trip this year. If you feel you can donate any children's books, from 0-8 years, in good condition, please consider dropping these off at the Sport Centre. Every book can make a difference.

Many thanks, Team Ghana.

edufuturists awards 2025

We are thrilled to share that Rossall School has been shortlisted for Independent School of the Year at the Edufuturists Awards 2025.

This prestigious award recognises independent schools that are leading the way with a cutting-edge curriculum and a firm commitment to preparing students for success in a rapidly changing world. We wholeheartedly believe that this reflects our ethos and the work we do every day and now, we would love your support to help us win.

Winners will be selected through a combination of public votes and expert judging. Voting is open until 8th May with the winner announced on on 26th June. We warmly invite our community and friends to cast a vote for Rossall here.

This exciting nomination follows the recent announcement of our AI in Primary Education Conference, taking place on 6th June. This groundbreaking event will bring together educators from both the state and independent sectors to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping teaching and learning. Designed to foster collaboration and innovation across sectors, the conference aims to ensure all children benefit - regardless of background or context. Learn more and book places here.

At Rossall, we are proud to be at the forefront of educational innovation - creating a dynamic, inclusive, and future-focused learning environment that empowers both students and staff to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

WAYS TO BE WELL AT ROSSALL

WEEKLY WELLBEING

As we approach our May half-term holiday, it is a great time to think about getting outside together and enjoying nature and exercise. The guide below provides ideas for making the most of nature together. As our Key Stage 3 pupils prepare for their exam week after half-term, it is important to teach younger pupils about balance and stress management - which is why the Wellbeing section of the Rossall Revision Hub, linked here, is so vitally important. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Rossall after a rest, when we will gear up for another exciting half-term before Summer is upon us. Safe travels and stay well!
