Congratulations to Fabian B in Year 12, winner of the Michaelmas Investment Club, after achieving an outstanding 14.9% portfolio growth since September. With global markets particularly choppy over the last few months, this return is especially impressive. Investment Club aims to develop students’ understanding of investing through online paper trading, allowing them to experience real-world market conditions without financial risk.

The student who grows their portfolio by the greatest amount wins a box of Swiss chocolates. Investment Club will run again in Lent term, taking place Tuesdays after school.

Student success

A fantastic achievement for Frankie S, who not only earned his place in the ISFA U18 Boys Representative Squad but also made an immediate impact by scoring the opening goal against the Scotland Schools FA.

His hard work, determination, and talent were on full display, marking a proud moment for both him and everyone who has supported his journey.

Izzy P’s Graphics Dazzle

This term Izzy has been finalising her brand in Graphics, inspired by Chelsea Flower Show. Izzy has been hand drawn all of her own artwork and has designed a range of beautiful flower shower posters and tickets to promote her Lancashire Bloom Flower Show brand. Well done Izzy, we can’t wait to see the final exhibition!

Year 13 Pianists Earn Prestigious Conservatoire Offers

We are delighted to share the exceptional achievements of two of our Year 13 Piano Academy students, Richard C (MC) and Yuchu W (Dragon), who have each received offers from some of the world’s most prestigious conservatoires.

Richard has been awarded generous scholarship offers from the Royal Academy of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the Royal Northern College of Music, along with an offer from the Royal College of Music.

Yuchu has also achieved outstanding success, securing significant scholarship offers from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as well as an offer from the Royal Northern College of Music.

We are immensely proud of both students. Their remarkable accomplishments are a testament to their dedication, talent, and perseverance, supported every step of the way by their teachers. Their success is truly inspiring.

Headmaster’s Awards

We were proud to celebrate Year 12 student, Timofei (Spread Eagle House) in Monday’s assembly as he received the Rossall Academic Award.

As a Language Ambassador, Timofei truly lives our school values, showing commitment, leadership, and a genuine desire to help others. He supports older students with exam preparation, leads the Spanish Beginners Club with enthusiasm, and represents the school warmly at Open Days. A reliable and inspiring role model, Timofei thoroughly deserves this recognition.

Timofei is a brilliant example of learning in action.

Congratulations, Timofei we are all incredibly proud of you.

WEEKEND FUN FOR OUR boarding Community

On Sunday, our boarders enjoyed a trip to the Pleasure Beach Arena, taking part in an ice skating session.

The group spent two hours on the ice, with pupils of all abilities taking part, from confident skaters practising their technique to first-timers building confidence with support from friends and staff. The session provided a lively and enjoyable opportunity for exercise, resilience, and social time away from the school site.

Despite the cold conditions inside the rink, spirits were high throughout, and the trip was a great example of how boarders make the most of shared experiences beyond the classroom.

Each Sunday our boarders enjoy a varied programme of activities including sporting, cultural, and recreational opportunities.

Meanwhile, our youngest boarders from Anchor House made the most of our seaside setting with a refreshing walk along the beach. Despite the winter weather, they relished the chance to explore the shoreline, enjoy the open space, and spend relaxed time together in the fresh air.

KS3 Photography Club

This week in Photography Club students have been experimenting with different materials, objects and coloured backgrounds to create abstract images.

Through this project, students explored composition, texture, colour and contrast, developing their ability to see everyday objects in new and creative ways.

The results are bold, vibrant and full of visual impact!

Morocco ‘World Challenge’ Expedition, July 2027

Rossall School invites you to join an online talk about our exciting Morocco expedition, running in July 2027.

This is a life-changing opportunity for students to explore Morocco with expert guides, while developing their life skills, confidence and independence. We’re partnering with World Challenge to offer this 13-night trip, which complements school learning. Here is a short video to give you a feel for what World Challenge is all about!

Applications are already open, so please visit our trip webpage for the sign-up link, itinerary, travel dates, Covid-secure booking terms and trip cost – examples of how past students have earned this themselves will be covered in the talk.

Paul from World Challenge will host the 30-minute Zoom presentation on Thursday 22nd January 6pm. Please come along and ask any questions, or just listen in.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS To Rossall alumnus Emma

Emma (OR ’24) has been playing professional football for Burnley, earning over 50 caps for the club. This Sunday, Burnley have been drawn against Manchester United, ironically, the team Emma supports, in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

It’s a huge opportunity for Emma to test herself against a number of full internationals and household names, including Ella Toone, Maya Le Tissier and Jess Park.

Emma was a fantastic student at Rossall, taking part in our first-ever trip to Ghana before achieving D*D*D* in her BTEC. We are so proud of her achievements and wish her the very best of luck on Sunday!

Old Rossallian Munich Dinner

We were delighted to welcome more than 30 Old Rossallians to the Munich Dinner on Friday, 9 January 2026.

This event marked the first Rossallian Club gathering of the year and provided an excellent start to 2026, with a strong turnout that clearly reflected the continued enthusiasm and engagement of the Rossall community in Germany.

A number of those in attendance are now celebrating more than 25 years since graduating, making it particularly rewarding to see how the German OR community continues not only to endure but to grow year after year.

The evening brought together Old Rossallians from a wide range of generations, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

Conversations flowed easily between alumni of different eras, sharing reflections on their time at Rossall, how the school has evolved over the years, and which traditions and values have remained constant.

Rossall alumnus Téo Beaumé celebrates early success in film music

Rossall School is proud to celebrate the achievements of former student Téo Beaumé, whose early career in film music is already gathering impressive momentum.

Téo has recently worked as Assistant Composer on Hamlet, a contemporary film adaptation of Shakespeare’s play, set in London and starring Riz Ahmed. The film is due for release soon and represents an exciting milestone in Téo’s developing career.

Alongside this, Téo has just completed work as Music Editor on Straight Circle, a film which went on to win Critics’ Week Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, a remarkable achievement for a young creative at the start of his professional journey.

Having recently moved to London to pursue new opportunities and expand his industry connections, Téo continues to build an impressive body of work across film and music.

Reflecting on the impact of Rossall on Téo’s journey, his mother Julie said: “Choosing Rossall was a significant commitment for us, but it quickly proved to be the right decision. Rossall gave Téo the freedom, encouragement, and belief to pursue his musical passion independently. It gave him confidence, discipline, a strong sense of respect for others and for his craft, and a genuine love of learning that continues to shape him today.”

We are delighted to share Téo’s success with the Rossall community and look forward to seeing where his talent takes him next.

It has been inspiring to spend time in PSHE lessons this week and to hear students discussing their futures. Year 7, for example, has been developing problem-solving skills and exploring how these apply to the wider world, while Year 10 has been learning about debit, credit, and savings. Many year groups have also been engaging with our careers platform, Unifrog, which they will use throughout their time at Rossall to support career preparation and post-secondary education.

With social media and teenagers back in the news this week, we will be sharing a series of social media infographics in the coming weeks, beginning with X. We hope these will encourage positive conversations, prompt thoughtful questions, and help our students navigate the digital world with confidence and care.
