Rossall Cadets Rise to the Challenge on Their First Field Day of the Year

This Wednesday marked an inspiring start to the year for the Rossall Combined Cadet Force (CCF), as cadets took to the school grounds for their much-anticipated first field day. The atmosphere was alive with energy, determination, and teamwork as students tested their skills across a series of demanding military-style activities.

Adding to the excitement, representatives from the 1st Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment joined the event, sharing invaluable insight into life in the British Army. Their presence brought a real sense of authenticity and inspiration, as they worked closely with senior cadets, setting leadership challenges that pushed participants to think fast, act decisively, and lead with confidence.

For the Year 9 cadets, competition was fierce as they vied for the coveted “Best Section Plaque.” After a day of grit, coordination, and camaraderie, Anzio Platoon from the Army section emerged victorious — a testament to their teamwork and dedication.

Meanwhile, excellence was also on display among the Royal Navy cadets. Reuben Kemp distinguished himself with a steady hand and sharp eye, earning the title of “Best Shot” of the competition.

The day was not only a showcase of skill and discipline but also a celebration of the values that define the CCF — leadership, resilience, and teamwork. As the sun set over Rossall, one thing was clear: the cadets had set the tone for a year full of promise, purpose, and pride.
