PREPARATORY SCHOOL
A WARM Welcome
On behalf of all of the staff, I would like to welcome you and your son or daughter to Rossall. As staff, we understand that learning is most successful when a child is happy and feels secure. To help us to create and maintain an environment that will foster such development, we need to establish a true partnership with you as parents.
We look to identify and enhance each child’s individual strengths and to offer opportunities to discover new experiences. To this end, the children at Rossall are encouraged to develop a love for learning, to pursue a wide range of interests and to explore their talents and skills.
This ‘Welcome Hub’ aims to communicate to you the important information that allows the School to run smoothly and fulfil its purpose effectively. If you have any further queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Your first port of call would be to the School Office, who will then refer you to the most appropriate member of staff, normally the Class Teacher.
We look forward to working together with you over the coming years to help your child achieve in all aspects of School life.
Mr Matt Turner
Headmaster of Preparatory School

Rossall School provides a Parent Portal, so that parents can log in to the School systems and make use of a host of available features. Furthermore, all information will also be available to pupils via their own login to the Rossall Portal.
This should simplify your interaction with your child’s school life and help to keep important documents in one place and to oversee your child’s progress. By being able to view information about their attendance, subject sets, calendar, public examinations, timetable, school reports and extra-curricular activities, you will be able to help support them in partnership with School so that they can make the most of their time at Rossall.
The Portal also contains contact details and medical information. The information can be checked and the School can be notified of any changes via the relevant email link. The more up-to-date the information is, the more useful it is, should the School need to contact you at any point.
We take data protection and security very seriously at Rossall and as such our systems use encryption and other current security measures to ensure that both your own and your child’s data is fully protected from security threats.
-
A Parent App will be available to download to your phone or tablet. The Parent App allows you to keep up-to-date with the latest from

Rossall School welcomes an excellent team of peripatetic music teachers who provide high-quality tuition across a wide variety of instruments, as well as vocal training.
Please fill out the Instrumental Lessons Form to request music lessons and a member of the Music Department will then reach out to you to understand your child’s desired outcomes and make introductions with one of our peripatetic music teachers accordingly.
Whilst music teachers will confirm the cost of lessons directly to parents, we understand that knowledge of an indicative cost is helpful; the cost of peripatetic music lessons start from £25 per half hour.
-
Please contact the Preparatory School office and let them know your child will be absent. Telephone 01253 774222 or email prepoffice@rossall.org.uk.
-
Your child will be taken to the Health & Wellbeing Centre. Our nurses will contact you.
-
While we try to discourage appointments within school time, we understand that this is sometimes unavoidable. You will need to provide information of the appointment in advance by contacting the Prep School office. Please try to include the time you need to collect your child, and the estimated time your child will return to school if applicable. Your child will be at the Sports Centre ready for your collection time. Telephone 01253 774222 or email prepoffice@rossall.org.uk.
-
If this is because of an appointment, please see above. If you are running late and able to, please contact the Prep School office. Please drop your child off at the Sports Centre and a member of the Prep School will collect them. Telephone 01253 774222 or email prepoffice@rossall.org.uk.

You will have completed a medical form when accepting your place at Rossall. If you entered details regarding medication a member of our Health & Wellbeing Team will be in touch with you. Any changes to medication should be reported by contacting the team.
If your child needs a short course of medication during School time, you should contact medical@rossall.org.uk with the details. If you need to send this in on the same day you are contacting our Health & Wellbeing team please contact the Prep School office
prepoffice@rossall.org.uk to inform them this is in your child’s school bag. Medication cannot be administered by School staff if contact has not been made with medical@rossall.org.uk.

Before you arrive at Rossall you can fill in the application form for any of our programmes and the Director of that subject will contact you to find out more. All areas take pupils at all stages of learning, while there will be assessments or auditions for some, this is to place you in the right level of the programme rather than to determine whether you can join.
