When on school trips, older children may be allowed some free time to explore locations or go shopping (accompanied by a friend and for limited periods of time), providing that they have their mobile phone with them and that they understand where the meeting point is and how to get there. They will also have maps and staff mobile phone contact numbers at all times.
Our class sizes will never exceed ten students per class with the exception of our student-centred project lessons, where the emphasis is on group work with the opportunity to present their project work to all the students at the end of the week. On arrival, students will sit a short English test to determine their ability level.
Students will then be allocated to a class according to age and language ability.
Each student will receive 20 hours of English as an additional language tuition per week from fully qualified (EAL) teachers.
By the end of their stay at Rossall Summer School, the students will have:
- Strengthened their grammar
- Developed confidence and accuracy in speaking
- Improved their writing skills
- Improved their reading ability
- Increased their listening skills
Students who stay with us for three or more weeks will receive an English Language certificate.
