Exam results and university destinations

We are delighted with the performance of our graduating Upper Sixth class. Under extraordinary circumstances, pupils have secured outstanding results, achieving some of the highest grades in recent Rossall history and pursuing courses at top universities around the UK and abroad.

In the A-level examinations, nearly 20% of grades awarded were the top mark of A*, giving a 5 fold increase on last year and firmly beating the national average of 14%. Just under half of the pupils achieved an A* or A grade and nearly three quarters achieved A*-B. This, combined with a 100% pass rate, has allowed pupils to attend some of the most prestigious universities, such as Oxford University, St Andrew, Imperial College London and Durham University, to name just a few.

Alongside the wide variety of A-level courses offered in the Sixth Form, pupils can also study the IB Diploma Programme. This was also historic, with pupils achieving an average of 34 points, well above the worldwide average. The high standard of teaching and learning in our Sixth Form is further reflected by individual subject results, with many courses being awarded only 6 or 7 in the IBDP, or A* and A at A-level.

Rossall Year 11 students also achieved excellent GCSE exam results. 100% of pupils achieved 5 or more passes (grades 9-4 or A*-C) including Maths and English and over half of all pupils achieved a grade 7-9 or A*-A. A record number of subjects achieved over 80% grade 7-9s. Even more exceptional is 15% of all grades awarded were the maximum of a 9, compared with a national average of 6%, and 11 pupils achieved nothing lower than a grade 7, with 2 pupils boasting a clean sweep of ten grade 9s each.
