Careers and Higher Education
The time at Rossall is merely a springboard to the rest of one’s life so it is vitally important to spend time exploring and considering the best route to take. As part of our Careers Programme, all students sit a diagnostic Morrisby test which gives some suggestions of possible careers and access to specialist careers advice. Students also have access to the extensive network of alumni and can be put in touch with former students to find out about specific careers or ask about work experience.
During the Sixth Form, students tap into advice and guidance for making applications to universities and higher education in the UK and overseas. We have expert guidance on applying to American universities and great experience in getting students in to top courses at prestigious universities worldwide. Our support for our leavers extends beyond their year of leaving should they need any help or supporting reference when applying for further or post-graduate qualifications.
Admission to Lancaster University for Rossall pupils
Lancaster University recognises the calibre of students studying at Rossall School and welcomes applications onto all of its courses. In recognition of the developing link between Rossall School and Lancaster University, Lancaster University will guarantee a conditional offer to all Rossall students, provided they are studying the required subjects as detailed on Lancaster University’s website:
http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/ (with the only exception being courses that require an interview or portfolio submission).
In addition, where a pupil is studying an EPQ they shall receive two offers from Lancaster University; the standard offer plus an offer of an A grade in the EPQ and one grade lower in an A level subject (e.g. AAA at A level or AAB at A level and an A grade in the EPQ).
Rossall students achieve excellent exam results at GCSE, A Level and in their International Baccalaureate qualifications and go on to study at top universities all over the world.
Rossall is one of the few schools in the country to offer such a wide choice of curricula to pupils at sixth form level.
As part of our enrichment programme and commitment to expanding horizons, we run a varied and engaging series of lectures, talks and presentations throughout the year.
