Opening September 2019
From its conception back in 2014, to the ground-breaking ceremony in August 2018, the sports centre is instantly recognisable five months into the build.
The build is progressing well and we are on target for the official opening in September 2019.
The new Sports Centre will include:
- An indoor sports hall (six badminton court size) with provision for indoor hockey, basketball and cricket (nets will be fitted).
- A four-lane 50m sprint track.
- A viewing gallery over the existing Rossall Astroturf.
- A fitness suite
- Male and female changing facilities for the indoor sports facilities, the multi-use games area (MUGA) and the Astroturf.
Rossall has a long History of providing sporting excellence; sports alumni include England Rugby Union Captain, Peter Winterbottom, Premier Hockey Club player, Jacob Draper, Lancashire Cricket player, Toby Lester, and England and Lancashire cricketer, Nigel David Howard, and this new facility offers the opportunity to create a centre of excellence for future Rossallians.
In addition, central to the School’s philosophy is opening up the school to the wider community and the new Sports Complex would be fundamental to this.
The Rossall Foundation would like to encourage the Rossall Community to support the Sport Centre Appeal. Having successfully raised £200,000 towards the new Sports Centre, the Foundation has committed to raising a further £300,000 by September 2019, coinciding with the official opening.
