MENUMENU

Life on the Fylde Coast

Rossall School is an oasis of calm set on the coastline of the Irish Sea and is one of the very few schools in the country with access directly to the beach. On a clear day, the scenery is breath-taking. To the South, it is not difficult to spot Blackpool Tower standing proud. To the North, you can admire the silhouettes of the beautiful and luscious Lake District. Less than an hour’s drive away, exploring the Lake’s hills and mountains is a requisite for keen walkers, although it is an accessible temptation for anyone seeking a bit of tranquillity in stunning surroundings.

There are a variety of small villages and towns around the Fylde Coast to explore. You have market towns like Garstang and Poulton-le-Fylde, offering that little bit of northern quaintness, and there are plenty of superb eating establishments locally – the award-winning Cartford Inn situated in Little Eccleston is but fifteen minutes from School. Not far from Little and Great Eccleston there are a number of excellent spots for a family day of rambling and picnicking in the Ribble Valley, including the Forest of Bowland and Pendle Hill.

The miles of promenade, right on the School’s doorstep takes you from Fleetwood through the towns of Cleveleys and Bispham, to the bustling town of Blackpool with its famous Golden Mile. Beyond Blackpool, you have the quieter seaside towns of St Anne’s on Sea and Lytham. The hugely popular Lytham Festival held annually have welcomed performers such as George Ezra, Tom Jones, Michael Ball, Bryan Adams, Billy Ocean and many more.

In contrast but just as accessible, you can enjoy the cultural highlights of city life. Via the M6 motorway and a direct trainline, you have Manchester and Liverpool within sixty and seventy-five minutes, and you can reach London by train in less than two and a half hours.

People here are warm and friendly, and the School itself takes the best of this local charm whilst fostering a strong sense of community and multiculturalism born out of a rich mix of international boarders and the principles underpinned by the International Baccalaureate.

Rossall is an integral part of life on the Fylde Coast and we are incredibly proud to champion the cause of this part of the world. Above all, we are a School with a clear ethos and we treat each other with kindness and respect.
