Rossall School Summer Camp

Rossall School is launching a brand new initiative for 2017. Our summer programme will offer a variety of specialised residential
and non-residential courses.

Our summer camps are designed to appeal to boys and girls, running throughout the summer holidays on our stunning coastal campus, where they will receive intensive coaching/teaching in a specific area.

Age

Rossall Summer Camp is open to children aged 11 -17

Duration

Residential courses will run from Saturday to Saturday
Non-residential courses will run from Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 4.00pm

Campus

Rossall School is located on a 160-acre site, ideally situated on the impressive coastline of North West England.

The spacious campus has extensive sports and recreation facilities which include a heated swimming pool, squash courts, tennis courts, fives courts, a modern all-weather sports pitch, a multi-use games area, two indoor sports halls, extensive sports pitches and a fitness suite.

The 2017 programme will offer 4-course options:

  • Golf

    7th August – 11th August

Rossall School now has its very own Golf Academy, which opened in September 2016. Equipped with Video Analysis and the GC2 Launch Monitor/Simulator we are now able to offer students of all abilities the chance to try, learn and play golf whatever the weather.

We have also established links with a number of golf clubs/facilities within the local area. Within easy reach of three British Open Venues and so many world class golf courses, Rossall is blessed to be located in an area recognised as the golfing capital of England.

The School’s resident PGA Golf Coach will offer a fun based training programme that will enable students of differing experience/ability the chance to develop the required skills to play and improve.

  • Football with Fleetwood Town FC

    14th August – 18th August

Fleetwood Town Football Club will deliver daily sessions for creative, technically gifted players via individual coaching, focusing on ball mastery, 1v1 attack, passing and receiving practices.

The sessions will be taken by Fleetwood Town FC Academy coaches who have a wealth of experience in academy football. All activities will take place at Fleetwood Town FC’s state of the art training facility, to include 1st Team player question and answer sessions, visits from the 1st Team Management and a tour of Fleetwood Town FC stadium.

  • Adventures in Astronomy

    21st August – 25th August

Rossall School boasts its very own Astronomy and Space Science Centre. Dr Nick Lister, our in-house astronomer, will lead the course.

The course will teach students to navigate their way around the sky at
night in our onsite planetarium where they are guaranteed a perfectly
    clear night sky.

They will learn how to identify the most important constellations, know how and when to track down the planets and the best ways to view them from planet earth.

This course will complement the student’s English skills wonderfully, in an academic, yet fun, environment.

  • Hockey

    28th August – 1st September

Our intensive hockey week, designed to complement pre-season training, is suitable for all emerging hockey players. John Bell, who has been involved in International hockey for over 25 years, will lead the course.

With a proven team coaching record, and the inside track to player progression through county, regional and international pathways, Bell has a wealth of knowledge, valuable to any hockey student.

The course is aimed at both emerging talent and young performance athletes and is tailored to hit all the critical areas of training such as technical development, team building, movement skills, as well as the mental approach to the sport.

We are proud to work with John and his coaching team and hope Rossall Summer Camp students will join the great number of young players who have thoroughly enjoyed their time on his camps.

Residential Courses

Students will live in comfortable single or double rooms in one of our supervised boarding houses.

Each house has a comfortable living space where students can relax and socialise. The day room contains a TV, DVD player and games facilities.

The house also boasts a kitchenette for making snacks and drinks, and computers with internet access.

Students will eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in our Harry Potter-esque Dining Hall each day.

If the great British weather permits, students will also enjoy regular barbecues and themed evenings, where students can sample various cuisines from around the globe.

Evening Activities

The residential courses offer an exciting evening activity programme of creative and sports activities, suitable for children of all ages. After a day of training or learning, there will be a social programme designed to build friendships, try out new skills and enhance the enjoyment of the Summer Camps.

Non-Residential Courses

Students who choose the non-residential option will be taken care of by our specialised teachers and coaches between the hours
of 9.00am – 4.00pm.

Each morning students will be met at the school drop-off point, located on the perimeter of the campus, and escorted to join residential students to begin their day.

A hot lunch and snacks will be provided each day in our Dining Hall.

We also offer Flexi-Residential, allowing students to stay at Rossall for up to two nights; this must be booked in advance and is subject to availability.

Excursions

We have an exciting and diverse range of excursions as part of the Summer Camp package. As well as providing a great day out, they will broaden the students’ cultural, historical and geographical understanding of the United Kingdom, and they are a great opportunity to try out the English language skills they have learnt.

Residential students* will go on one excursion per week and destinations are likely to include:
