Fleetwood Town Football Academy

Rossall has partnered with Fleetwood Town Football Club to offer male students aged between 15 and 19 years, a combined academic and football programme.

Fleetwood Town Football Club is a professional English Football League Club with a major commitment to nurturing young talent. The club has recently developed a state of the art training complex, opened in 2016 by Manchester United’s former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. Premier League sensation, Jamie Vardy, of Leicester City and England, made his name in Fleetwood Town colours, attracting attention from one of the game’s biggest clubs, eventually moving for a record fee.

The Academic Programme

Pupils in Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 can be accepted onto the programme. A pupil would be part of the programme for a minimum of one year, but possibly longer, in order to complete an academic qualification at Rossall School.

The Football Programme

The programme is open to players who are already playing in a Professional Academy or who simply wish to develop their footballing ability. Players will focus on weekly and termly targets, working towards achieving the Fleetwood Town Philosophy ‘to educate, develop and produce creative players that are physically, technically and tactically astute’

The Elite Football Academy Programme is delivered around the school’s educational timetable. It will include morning and evening training sessions with fixtures played one afternoon per week and at the weekend.

The programme provides:

  • Training as a professional footballer
  • UEFA qualified coaching
  • Opportunities to progress in English football
  • State of the art facilities
