AMAZING ALUMNI – JONNY CHARD

Jonny Chard (Pelican 06-13) visited us at Rossall earlier this year to talk about his challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Students were enthralled by Jonny’s presentation on just how difficult this challenge would be and he was inundated with questions from our inquisitive Junior School pupils. The main aim of his challenge was to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of his Nana and Great Aunt. We held a cake sale and non-uniform day and £275 was donated to the charity on behalf of the School.

We are delighted to announce that in August Jonny completed the Machame Route on Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m/19,341ft in total ) and raised over £5000 in the process. Jonny took the Rossall School flag with him and can be seen here proudly holding it at the Uruhu Peak, the highest point.

Our congratulations go to Jonny on this amazing achievement and we think he is most definitely worthy of being crowned this week’s Amazing Alumni.
