Developed by the founder of the modern Olympic movement, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, and introduced in the 1912 Stockholm Olympic Games, Modern Pentathlon is a unique and challenging sport for men and women.

Rossall Modern Pentathlon Academy

The Rossall Modern Pentathlon Academy is the only Pentathlon Academy in the North West of England.

Modern pentathlon comprises five diverse sports: swimming, fencing, riding, running and shooting. Each discipline is held separately, apart from the running and shooting, which are held together in a challenging and exciting combined event.

Competitors gain modern pentathlon points across each discipline, resulting in a handicapped start for the combined event. The winner of the competition is simply the first person to cross the finish line.

Modern pentathlon is the only Pentathlon GB sport to be competed at the Olympics.

The Rossall Pentathlon Academy is run by a fully qualified Modern Pentathlon Coach, Steve Mason (Ex-International Modern Pentathlete), offering coaching in 4 out of 5 disciplines on site: Running, shooting, (Combined Event) swimming and fencing. The academy boasts state of the art Laser Pistol Technology for the exciting new combined event which sees shooting and running together in one discipline.
